Here are a few ideas on how to spend Easter in Amsterdam. Get inspired!

Enjoy Spring to the Fullest

Spring is in the air, and Dutch flowers are in full bloom right now! Head to Keukenhof to see the world’s largest flower garden or hop on your bike and explore the famous Flower Strip stretching for 20 miles between Haarlem and Leiden.

Moreover, there is a chance to enjoy flowers without even leaving the city. During the Amsterdam Tulp Festival, over 500,000 tulips are blooming all over town. Take a walk around and visit as many tulip venues as you can.

Easter Brunch

During the Easter weekend, many cafes and restaurants offer their special breakfasts, brunches and dinners. Here are a few options that we find the most interesting:

  • Easter Cruise on the Pancake Boat. Traditionally departs two times a day on both Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. The brunch includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, warm side dishes and ice cream.
  • Floor 17 Eggy Easter Paasbrunch. Enjoy a delicious brunch with a view and try finding one of the golden eggs hidden in the restaurant to get a complimentary bottle of champagne.
  • Pllek Paasbrunch en Muziek. The Easter brunch at Pllek includes 7 dishes served simultaneously and a special music program.
  • Easter Breakfast at ARTIS Zoo. Start your day with a high-energy breakfast and join ARTIS Easter festivities afterwards. The breakfast is available on both Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

Have Your Own Easter Brunch in a Park

If the weather is nice, and you’re looking for a more affordable option for celebrating Easter in Amsterdam, cook your own meal (or simply stop by Albert Heijn to get one), grab a picnic blanket and head to the nearest park for a day out.

Our favorite picnic spots are Museumplein, Vondelpark, Westerpark, Amsterdamse Bos and Sloterpark.

Egg Hunt and Other Easter Activities

Festive treats and fun Easter activities are probably the best options for families with children. Luckily, there are plenty of those organized in and around Amsterdam. Our favorite spots are Keukenhof and Artis Zoo.

Keukenhof organizes a special weekend for children from April 14th until April 17th. Expect hilarious egg hunting games, spectacular shows and a chat with the Easter Bunny. ARTIS Royal Zoo offers the Easter Treasure Hunt on the same days. In addition to a good old egg hunt, kids can learn more about the animals that lay eggs and pet tiny baby chicks in The Incubator House.
