Here are a few ideas on how to spend Easter in Amsterdam. Get inspired!
Spring is in the air, and Dutch flowers are in full bloom right now! Head to Keukenhof to see the world’s largest flower garden or hop on your bike and explore the famous Flower Strip stretching for 20 miles between Haarlem and Leiden.
Moreover, there is a chance to enjoy flowers without even leaving the city. During the Amsterdam Tulp Festival, over 500,000 tulips are blooming all over town. Take a walk around and visit as many tulip venues as you can.
During the Easter weekend, many cafes and restaurants offer their special breakfasts, brunches and dinners. Here are a few options that we find the most interesting:
If the weather is nice, and you’re looking for a more affordable option for celebrating Easter in Amsterdam, cook your own meal (or simply stop by Albert Heijn to get one), grab a picnic blanket and head to the nearest park for a day out.
Our favorite picnic spots are Museumplein, Vondelpark, Westerpark, Amsterdamse Bos and Sloterpark.
Festive treats and fun Easter activities are probably the best options for families with children. Luckily, there are plenty of those organized in and around Amsterdam. Our favorite spots are Keukenhof and Artis Zoo.
Keukenhof organizes a special weekend for children from April 14th until April 17th. Expect hilarious egg hunting games, spectacular shows and a chat with the Easter Bunny. ARTIS Royal Zoo offers the Easter Treasure Hunt on the same days. In addition to a good old egg hunt, kids can learn more about the animals that lay eggs and pet tiny baby chicks in The Incubator House.
Happy a great Easter in Amsterdam!
