Amsterdam Calling is a YouTube Webseries that follows a group of local female students as they visit cool and unusual places and events around the city. American expat Jerry Goldberg produces the series through his production company Molen Blauw.
”After living in Amsterdam for a number of years I noticed an unmistakable, young energy here, especially in the music, club and art scenes, which I wanted to capture as a way to promote Amsterdam to a younger, international group. I got together with Hannah who was a film student and an intern on a Dutch film I produced to figure out how to do a travel type show with her and her Dutch friends. So Amsterdam Calling became just that….young locals taking you to places they know: bars, museums, festivals…anywhere as long as it was off the beaten tourist path.”
Season One featured Hanna and her friends as they ate their way through the Albert Cuypmarkt, clowned around at the EYE Museum, danced on Blijburg Beach, shopped in the 9 straatjes, drank cocktails at Canvas on the 7th, partied at Pitch Festival & more. Hanna’s favorite episode was uncovering the secrets of the Red Light District. “People think Amsterdam is only about hookers and pot and I wanted to show all of the cool stuff we have going on here, even in the Red Light District” confesses Hannah. “Everything from Ons Liever Heer Op Solder Hidden Church to Brewery De Prael to The Compagnie Theatre to Mata Hari Bar”.
In season three American expat Gessel shows you all the best that Amsterdam has to offer with the help of other Amsterdam experts. Watch some of the latest videos below:
