Great news – spring is back in town, and so is the tulip season! In just a couple of weeks Amsterdam welcomes yet another edition of the Tulp Festival, Keukenhof opens its doors to visitors and tulips fields burst into bloom. For those who can’t wait – here are a couple of tips on where to buy tulips in Amsterdam. Find a perfect bouquet and bring spring into your home!

Bloemenmarkt

When it comes to tulip shopping, the obvious first guess is the Bloemenmarkt, also known as the Amsterdam Floating Flower Market. The Bloemenmarkt is located in the city center and very popular among city guests, given that it’s the only one of its kind in the world.

Contrary to popular belief, this market does not exist for tourists and offers fresh flowers for reasonable prices. However, you have to take a good look around to find the best deal.

Prices at the Flower Market vary significantly depending on a stall. While one of them might offer a bouquet of 50 tulips for €15, you can find the same one for €5 just around the corner. Right now, since it’s not the high season for tulips yet, the lowest price for 50 tulips is €8.

Albert Cuyp Markt

Although not a flower market by definition, the Albert Cuyp is one of the most popular markets among locals, and it sells all sorts of things, including flowers. A huge variety of goods and foods in combination with the lowest prices in town – what can be better?

While hunting for the freshest bouquet of tulips in Amsterdam, take a stroll along the market and look around. Tulips will hardly be the only thing you buy there! We strongly recommend stopping by Original Stroopwafels to try a delicious freshly made stroopwafel – the best in town!

Address: Albert Cuypstraat, 1073 BD
Hours: 9AM – 5PM daily (closed on Sunday)

Albert Heijn

Grab a bunch of tulips while grocery shopping in Albert Heijn. They always have a good selection of flowers there, fresh cut and reasonably priced. Save a euro or two buying several “bosjes”: Albert Heijn often offers a discount if you buy more than one bouquet.

Finally, one more way to find a perfect bouquet of tulips in Amsterdam is to simply take a walk around. You will bump into countless stalls selling tulips, as well as lots of other flowers. Just don’t buy the first one you see and take some time to hunt for the lowest prices.
