Cirque Du Soleil’s new production ‘Kooza’ returns to the roots of tradition with acrobatic artistry and the art of clowning with a high content of slapstick thrown in the mix. After touring for almost 7 years, ‘Kooza’ has finally landed in Amsterdam. The narrative of the show centres on ‘The Innocent’, a solitary young man who is swept into the realm of Kooza by a charming character called ‘The Trickster’. As you follow his search for a place in this strange new world you will meet a host of comic characters such as ‘The King’ and his court clowns, ‘The Pickpocket’, ‘Heimloss’ and ‘The Bad Dog’ who eventually becomes ‘The Innocents’ Companion.
Fear, identity, humour and the timeless themes of hope and aspiration are explored through acrobatic feats, extravagant costumes and a rich array of music, all by a vast amount of talented artists who defy the limits of what the human body is capable of. Contortionists, trapeze artists, juggling, teeterboards and the wheel of death are just the beginning of the amazing acts these artists so gracefully accomplish.
‘Kooza’ is pure unadulterated circus. A performance done in a nostalgic old time fashion, combining tradition with 21st century precision and brilliance.
Cirque Du Soleil has been touring with their production ‘Kooza’ since April 2007 and has performed more than 1,850 shows all over the globe which has seen more than 4 million spectators.
