Located in an area known as Monot in Beirut, Em Sherif is an Oriental fine-dining experience that offers traditional cuisine and very high end service in an ultra stylish setting. The restaurant is designed in a way that it represents an antique oriental mansion, lavish with luxury and Em Sherif’s own personal European touch. Em Sherif herself carefully takes food supervising matters into her own hands and makes sure clients are served delicious food that is expertly prepared daily with the freshest and highest quality products.
Em Sherif is the perfect venue for corporate lunches, family dinners, lunch gatherings and romantic dinners with a capacity of around 110 people indoor and 70 people on the Terrace. What makes Em Sherif different from other restaurants in the area is that there is no menu to choose from. They have a set menu per day and you get all of it. The menu consists of a very generous selection of hot and cold mezze and if you don’t like something they take it away. The food, service and atmosphere at Em Sherif will make you feel like royalty and will ensure you cannot wait to come back for more. The restaurant is intent on providing guests with the finest entertainment provided by a nightly live band. This restaurant is the perfect place for those seeking to enjoy ‘Tarab’ and traditional Oriental music.
We were invited for dinner at Em Sherif and we had the best culinary experience. The key word for Em Sherif is abundance. There was just so much food and we wanted to try everything but it was simply impossible. The set menu starts with hot and cold mezze which are all equally delicious. The houmous is so beautifully presented you almost feel bad for tucking into it. Our favourite mezze was the tabouleh because it has lemon peel in it, such a good idea. The bread is super fresh and warm when served, really the best we had in all of Beirut. If you are looking for a luxury dining experience and want to sample a wide selection of excellent traditional Lebanese dishes, go to Em Sherif and you will not be disappointed.
Em Sherif is open for lunch 12.30-4pm and dinner 8.30pm-12mid. Lunch: $38/person, Sunday lunch: $48/person, Dinner: 60$/person. Prices do not include drinks.
What we liked:
+ excellent air conditioning (people can smoke Argileh inside but you cannot smell it due to the circulation)
+ wide selection of mezze
+ professional service
+ high quality tableware
What we disliked:
– toilet facilities for women are located directly next to the kitchen so there are always people walking past
