For a quirkily different Valentine’s Day, you might consider celebrating your love of the outdoors, meeting new friends or potential partners, having a fun romantic time with your own partner and raising money for a very important cause by taking part in the first ever Valentijnsloop – the Valentine’s Run! In the evening on Valentine’s Day, couples, singles and one helpful team of cupids will gather in the Vondelpark to take part in a five-mile run with the aim of raising money for Stichting ALS: the charity that supports sufferers of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as Motor Neurone Disease).
The run will finish up at the Love Plaza, where strawberries and chocolate from Chocolate Heaven will be awaiting the participants! Then from 20:30 to 01:00 there will be an after-party in the Blauwe Theehuis, with DJ Amor playing classic tracks from the 90s and noughties. You can show up and dance in your running clothes – the idea is to relax!
The evening will be lit up with red heart-shaped lights marking the route, and all participants will get a glow stick. The runners will be organised into three groups: couples, single women and single men. It shouldn’t need to be said that all couples and singles, straight and LGBT are joyously welcome.
Tickets for the run are €11,00 (singles) or €15,00 (couples) and tickets for the Valentine’s After-Party at the Blauwe Theehuis are €9,95.
The pre-run warm-up starts at 19:40 Friday 14 February 2014 in the Vondelpark. Further details and tickets can be obtained from href=”www.valentijnsloop.nl”>
