  • Haarlemmerstraat & Haarlemmerdijk

While most of the shopping centres around the world offer the same seasonal or “in” stuff throughout the year, Amsterdam’s Haarlemmerstraat differs and offers fashionable, distinct and great stuff up for sale. People can spend hours just going through the area.

The Haarlemmerstraat is situated in the city’s Jordaan area and also has an extension called the Haarlemmerdijk. There are various shops, boutiques, beauty salons, hip and reasonably priced restaurants, cafés plus the oldest cinema of Amsterdam; Haarlemmerstraat pleases its visitors to no end. Many people love finding unique items in the shopping district that they can take home as souvenirs.

Check out one of the 200 shops that sell all kinds of products:  toys, electronics, jewellery, accessories, books, and so much more! In fact, the large variety will only give you one problem:  ‘ what to buy and what not to buy, that is the question’. Prepare to be even more indecisive on Wednesdays, when the organic farmer’s market joins the Haarlemmerplein. If you’re looking for something with more class, check out the Nukuhiva boutique, where they sell fashionable clothes.

All the shops stay open till 9 at night on Thursdays which means people can enjoy a spot of shopping quickly followed by a delicious dinner out. To satisfy your needs, the Haarlemmerstraat and Haarlemmerdijk are loaded with restaurants. Restaurants such as Scarlett and Thai & Co are local  favourites. Hollanduz is a Spanish delicatessen and a store, for those wishing to take home a piece of Spain. The hand painted, tiled interior is the perfect place to snap up a  tasty pata negra, tapas and Sherries.

If you are looking for a full shopping and dining experience in Amsterdam, then  Haarlemmerstraat is your ideal destination!
