In a our fast paced life where computers, cell phones and deadlines are the order of the day, there’s a strong need to de-stress and quiet our mind. It’s no wonder that yoga, a 5.000 year old spiritual practice is gaining popularity, also in Amsterdam. Yoga studios are popping up everywhere, but finding a good studio can be a pain. I met with Natasha from Joyful Yoga, and she told me all about her Amsterdam based studio.
Originally from England, Natasha taught all over the world and now has found her home in Amsterdam. The first thing you notice when you walk into the studio the welcoming and intimate atmosphere. Natasha tells me that she wanted to create a serene environment with attention to personal guidance. As we talk, Natasha lights (ecofriendly!) candles and tells me how she loves teaching yoga and how she beliefs it can bring you joy, health and happiness.
Of course I needed to experience this myself. I tried the Yin Yang Yoga, a combined class where active Flow Yoga is combined with relaxing Yin Yoga to balance both body and mind. I have to say I loved the class, after a busy day it feels so good to just let go and unwind. For me the atmosphere, yoga teaching and personal guidance made this a great class. The studio offers a variety of lessons during the day from more relaxed Yin Yoga to active Power Yoga. Pregnant women can also keep their body healthy during Pregnancy Yoga. The classes are suited to beginner yogi to the more experienced.
Joyful Yoga is more than your everyday yoga studio, you can also join the detox programma or follow one of the workshops. In January, Joyful Yoga will begin their ‘New Year, Joyful You’ celebrations – a line-up of motivational talks, inspirational workshops and a 5 class card offer of just €50. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for the line-up, which is soon to be announced. Feel like trying a yoga class at Joyful Yoga? The first class is only €5 (valid until 31st December 2014).
