When we say playground you might be thinking of something that you would take your child to, but the Olympus Photography Playground is a playground for the adults, especially adults with an inner child that have a keen eye for photography. The Olympus Photography Playground is a unique exhibit and experience, hosted since the 12th of June and running through to the 13th of July at the characteristic and historic bank building on the Spuistraat.

Following its huge success in Berlin with more than 60,000 visitors taking the journey through the interactive and innovative world of art and photography, the playground has now made its way to Amsterdam. You are encouraged not just to look but to join in and experience the world of art and photography through the lens. At the entrance you will be given an OM-D E-M10 (Olympus’ newest camera), on loan of course and completely free of charge, with a memory card to get started on the playground. The memory card is yours to keep so you can take your photos home with you.

With an area of one thousand square feet, filled with exhibits and artwork by international artists, for your snapping pleasure. Each room or exhibit has an Olympus expert attending to all your questions and giving helpful tips on the camera and photography. International artists presenting their exhibits include ZEDZ, Maser, Flora & Fauna, Stills & Strokes and Wayne Horse. During the day visitors can also attend the various workshops, meetings and exclusive evenings.
Each room is distinctive, full of different colors, patterns and shapes. With optical illusions, light paintings, and projections as just a few of the wondrous creations that visitors can explore and snap on their cameras. Of course, there is a reason why it’s called a playground. Glow in the dark boxes, a large wooden Trojan like horse and soft cushiony installations are just a few of the many fun parts of the playground to enter and discover. There is even a place for a traditional old game of hide and seek for the young at heart. If photography and art is your thing, then this is a playground you won’t want to miss.

Olympus Photography Playground runs daily from 10am to 6pm, seven days a week. Entry is completely free. After Amsterdam the atelier will continue to Cologne, Munich, Zurich and Vienna. For more information visit www.olympus.nl/omd
