  • The Best Shopping Stops In Amsterdam

    1. Droog
This is one of the more unique stores you’ll find anywhere in terms of its product, and it’s had so much success that the owners have now opened a second location in Las Vegas, Nevada. The entire store experience in Amsterdam is completely original. The store is located at the “Droog Hotel,” where you’ll also find a café and tearoom. As for the products, Droog is known for pushing design – for accessories, lighting, furniture, etc. – in new directions, using strange materials and concepts to create beautiful new ideas.

    2. Lockstock & Barrel
Located in the Nine Streets shopping district in the heart of the city, Lockstock & Barrel is in the midst of an overall experience any visitor will cherish, with wonderful restaurants and shopping experiences crowding the area. The store itself offers a collection of clothing and accessories that, as noted in The Guardian‘s look at shopping in Amsterdam, come from all over the world.

    3. Marks & Spencer
M&S famously closed its European locations outside of the UK in 2001, but its store in Amsterdam has been back up and running a while now, and is a wonderful place to shop. This particular location seems to be emphasizing the retailer’s renowned food options, giving locals and visitors alike a taste of something different, and there is still a small clothing section as well. M&S also offers a webshop uniquely suited for Dutch customers.

    4. Moooi
If you’re into cutting edge design, look no further than Moooi. The store space itself is rather stunning, a blinding white, ultra-modern layout that sets off the products within brilliantly. The store stocks a consistently updated collection of design products (furniture, accessories, etc.) from high-end collections and design fairs all over the world.

    5. The American Book Center
With so much focus on design throughout the shopping districts in Amsterdam, this book shop offers a nice twist on your shopping experience. Essentially, it’s the city’s default location for books and literature collections in English, but the store has a certain charm to it. It caters to a large audience with a variety of genres, and is always a nice place to stop while exploring the city.
