Please note that this is the last year’s Halloween agenda. See here for the Halloween parties of 2017!
Many would say that Amsterdam is one of the best places for celebrating Halloween. While the holiday is relatively new for the Netherlands, and Amsterdammers might not yet be experienced enough in trick-or-treating, there is one thing they are really good at, and that is partying.
As the Halloween celebration means lots of fun and a cool party with creepy costumes, scary masks and painted faces, there is no chance for Amsterdammers not to love it! For the same reason, a lot of tourists come to visit the city at the end of October – it promises fun.
The whole week before the holiday, Amsterdam offers countless Halloween events and parties for all tastes and ages. Let’s look at what there is to attend, and come up with your Halloween agenda for this year!
Who said a party should last for just one day? Amsterdam Spook breaks the stereotypes and says that a celebration must go on for a week, at the very least.
So, be prepared and save the date! The 20th of October marks the beginning of the Amsterdam Halloween Festival, more than a week of ‘bloody good fun’. The festival covers kid’s events, makeup workshops, the horror movie night and, of course, parties!
It is probably the biggest of Amsterdam Halloween events, so don’t miss it! Check out the detailed program for each day of the festival and stay tuned via the festival’s Facebook page to get all the updates first.
Ticket price: depends on the event
The Dead Space Halloween Party comes as the logical conclusion of the festival mentioned above and will be held on October 29 in the Hotel Arena club. It is the 16th annual Halloween party hosted by Amsterdam Spook, and we’ve got the space topic this time.
Come dressed up as creepy aliens, multi-legged space mutants or whatever it is that you can come up with. Apart from the self-satisfaction from having a great outfit, you can also win a prize if your costume is the best one!
Expect delicious drinks and snacks, impressive decorations, good music and great performances. More than 35 DJs and artists have been invited to the party, including theater troupes, acrobats and cosplay groups.
Ticket price: 26 EUR for the Pre-sale Halloween party ticket
Every great party becomes much better with a pre-party! To make your celebration complete, visit Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum before going to the Hotel Arena for the Dead Space Sci-fi event.
Discover the most strange things in the world, walking amongst the dead and watching the darkness creep over the Dam square from the top floor lounge. Ever wanted to spend the night at a museum? Here is your chance!
Take a picture with Mr. and Mrs. Skeleton in the lobby, join the Face Painting session and enjoy the best of authentic Mexican snacks together with delicious Halloween cocktails.
In addition to standard tickets for the Ripley’s event, the museum also sells VIP tickets, which include both the Dead Space Sci-fi and Ripley’s parties, as well as a limo ride from the museum to the Hotel Arena and drinks. Note that buying your ticket in advance can save you up to 10 euros!
Ticket price: ranges from 8-15 EUR for the Standard Ticket to 50-60 EUR for the VIP Ticket
Always dreamt about having supernatural powers? This October you finally have that chance as the eighth annual Amsterdam Halloween Party at Westergasfabriek is superhero-themed.
Bloody Avengers, creepy Deadpool, dangerous and sexy Wonder Woman are only some of the supernatural freaks and geeks to hang out with at Westergasfabriek. Dress like your favorite superhero or let the imagination run wild and create the absolutely unique supernatural costume!
Everything will do, as soon as you’re dressed-up and follow the dress code. Join the event on Facebook so you don’t miss anything important.
Ticket price: 28,50 EUR for the Regular Ticket
One of the most unusual Halloween events to attend in Amsterdam. Halloween at Noorderlicht is an all-day party, with kids activities such as making masks and painting faces in the daytime and a real scare-fest for grown-ups in the evening.
Even though the party itself should be spooky, what is the scariest about the event is its location. Hang out at Amsterdam’s northern docklands at night, among the abandoned industrial buildings, and discover how creepy it can be! Just the right place for the Halloween party!
Ticket price: 5 EUR for the evening program
Regardless of which of the Halloween events you’re going to choose, remember that time is running out, and it’s only a few more week left before the holiday. So, you might want to buy your ‘bloody tickets’ in advance. Wish you all a scary Halloween!
