Turn on the Lights for the Christmas Season

The Christmas season is coming, and it’s not to be taken lightly! Celebrate the start of it together with De Bijenkorf, the high-end department store on Dam Square. Opening the season, De Bijenkorf throws its impressive Turn on the Lights event that kicks off at 19:00 on the 16th of November.

About the Show

The event organized by De Bijenkorf is held on Dam Square every year in the middle or the end of November. The show traditionally starts in the evening, bringing light, music and fun to the main square.

Expect musical and aerial performances, acrobatic shows and many more pleasant surprises! The culmination of the show is the illumination of De Bijenkorf. At the same moment the facade of the building is lit up with thousands of lights, the fireworks begin.

In addition to spectacular performances on Dam, De Bijenkorf also extends its shopping hours, so people can stock up on early Christmas presents.

In 2016, the show will tell the musical fairy tale The Magic of Love, featuring Ernst Daniel Smid and Giovanca.

The event is free, and everyone is welcome!

Turn on the Lights in Other Cities

The Turn on the Lights event is also held outside the Dutch capital. In recent years, the ‘floating celebration’ accompanied by music and light took place in Rotterdam, The Hague, Eindhoven and Maastricht.
