Every photo enthusiast, professional photographer and creative mind attended the Unseen Photo Fair this past weekend. Hundreds of independent photographers and galleries from around the world had curated mini instillations of provocative photography inside one of the many buildings at the Westergasfabriek complex. London galleries situated next to photographers from Japan, Spain, Turkey, Sweden, and many local artists and galleries reflected Amsterdam’s international ambiance at Unseen’s second edition.

Sponsored in part by the independent gallery Foam, known for its thought-provoking and emotional exhibits, the fair catered to the uninhibited and fearless individual. As the title suggests, be prepared to experience a little bit of anything from “unseen” exhibitors- those who may be overlooked on a regular day. The intimate and informal atmosphere gave attendees the opportunity to talk with curators, photographers and directors as they walked you through their exhibitions. Strangers also shared insights into the visual medium and discussed aesthetic and cultural differences.

With a day pass set at 19.50 euro, the ticket gave holders access to the Gashouder, Westerleifde, and Living Room where movie screenings and talks occur each day. In addition to the fair, attendees had the chance to peruse the book market, listen to live music, and enjoy the interactive project ‘INSIDE OUT’ by French artist JR. Patrons could have their picture taken at a mobile photography studio, and printed in a matter of minutes.
