Located 80 km from Faro airport and 2 km from Lagos, on a spectacular clifftop with panoramic views of the Atlantic ocean is Romantik Hotel Vivenda Miranda. The hotel sits in a converted old building from the 17th century that belonged to an English noble family. It was extended to provide more accommodation but the new part is hardly distinguishable from the traditional building. All interior design is by their in house designer Christina who has decorated all of the rooms (every room is different!), the restaurant and the spa. And boy has she done a great job. The design is contemporary boutique chique with classic comfort with Portuguese influences. Murals of flowers and birds adorn the walls around the swimming pool while inside the walls are full of beautiful original pictures and ornate designs.
Vivenda Miranda is a boutique hotel with its 25 rooms which include doubles, deluxe doubles and suites, suite superior and a boutique grand suite. We stayed in the latter which was absolutely divine. It was renovated in 2009 and now includes two bathrooms, one of which has a spectacular view of the Atlantic ocean, a spacious lounge area and a fantastic queen size bed with star lights in the ceiling above it. The bold use of dark purples with gold accents create a truly relaxed atmosphere of pure luxury. Original artwork, again by the very talented Christina, lines the walls and gives the room a personal touch. The room also has large private balconies with stunning views of Porto de Mós beach. This spectacular suite, along with all the other rooms, is equipped with Sat-TV, mini-bar, safe, beach towels, and bathrobes and with free Wi-Fi.
The hotel’s stunning location also means there is easy access to nearby Porto de Mós beach via a private path. The path is a little rugged and therefore not suitable for young children or elderly visitors, but it takes you down to the beach in around 15 minutes. However, you don’t have to leave the hotel’s grounds at all to cool down because it has a fantastic swimming pool with jacuzzi and waterfall shower. There are plenty of luxury sun loungers on which you can work on your tan, relax with a good book or watch the world go by. Use of the Wellness Spa Suite with pool, sauna and Turkish bath is free of charge for all guests. They also have a spa where you can book massages and treatments, you can read about our experiences here.
Unsurprisingly, Vivenda Miranda hosts weddings as well. Who would not want to get married at such a dream location? If you are thinking about tying the knot here, be prepared to book in well in advance because they limit weddings to once every two weeks so as not to inconvenience their other guests. This concern for guest satisfaction and maintaining the highest standard of service is what sets Vivenda Miranda apart above all else. We stayed at the hotel for two nights but we did not want to leave. If you’re looking for a place to stay on your romantic getaway to Portugal, this is where you need to be.
Also be sure to check out the Raw food vitality week that will be held from the 18st to 25th of October.
