Whether you know your DKNY from your Dior, or you think Valentino is a type of ice cream, this year’s Vogue Fashion’s Night Out has something for everyone. Vogue Fashion’s NIght Out will take place on the 4th of September from 18:00 – 22:00. The events will happen in the upmarket Bijenkorf department store, and along the PC Hooftstraat, as well as Van Baerlestraat, Dam and Hobbemakade.
Vogue needs no introduction. The ‘fashion bible’ has, for many decades, been a taste-maker and trend-setter. The editor-in-chief of American Vogue, Anna Wintour, came up with the idea of having a ‘fashion store crawl’. Just like a pub crawl, but instead of crawling from one drinking establishment to another, you crawl fashion stores! This was back in 2009 in New York. Since then the concept has spread to all 18 countries where Vogue is published, including Italy, Russia and, of course, Amsterdam. The event is dedicated to celebrating everything fashion. For one night in the year, all 18 countries can enjoy in-store parties, surprise performances, celebrities, photo opportunities, special offers and freebies, DJ’s and, of course, plenty of champagne and stunning clothes in over 4500 retail stores.
Parties I’ll be hoping to attend will be the Jimmy Choo event and also Max Mara, although I’ll also be hoping to support local Dutch designer Jantaminiau too. I’m a big fan of Chanel lipstick, so I’ll be checking out their new lipstick collection, as well as Michael Kors‘ new range of sunglasses (yes I know, summer’s nearly over…….but there’s always next summer!) For bargain hunters, head to Victoria’s Secrets who are promising free manicures, and of course keep your eyes peeled for plenty of discounted clothing and limited-edition items. Just make sure you take your wallet!
