  • Weekly Amsterdam Guide: 23-29 January 2017

Welcome to our weekly Amsterdam guide! Let’s look at what the Dutch capital has to offer!

    Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

    January 26-29

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week comes to town twice a year, traditionally in January and July, gathering the most talented designers – Dutch and international, renowned and up-and-coming – in the same place. See here for the interview with an Amsterdam-based fashion blogger to have a better idea of what to expect from it.

    Chinese New Year

    January 28

Although a traditional calendar says the New Year has already come, according to a lunar one, we are still living in 2016 until January 28th. So, turn on the holiday mode, head to the city center on Saturday and celebrate Chinese New Year with the rest of Amsterdam, enjoying dragon dances, fireworks and oriental food.

    IJ Hallen Flea Market

    January 28-29

IJ Hallen is the biggest and the most extraordinary flea market in Europe that sells all kinds of things! Go treasure hunting and stock up on second-hand clothes and shoes. ‘Dig up’ a vintage bag or an antique lamp that costs less than a cup of coffee. Find everything you’re looking for and more…

    Nationale Pindakaasdag!

    January 24

Celebrate National Peanut Butter Day (yes, that’s a thing!) together with De Pindakaaswinkel. Expect a couple of captivating activities dedicated to your favorite sandwich filling and lots of peanut butter available for free.

    Vintage Kilo Sale

    January 28

To all fashionista’s, fans of vintage clothing and those who simply love to strike a good bargain. The Vintage Rebel organizes yet another Vintage Kilo Sale in Amsterdam, and everyone is welcome! Stop by to stuff your bag with some great clothes from the 70s, 80s and 90s and pay by weight. The price is €15 and there is no minimum or maximum weight. The entrance is free.

Finally, don’t miss out on the winter fun in the Dutch capital! The Dutch Ice Sculpture Festival, as well as the ice rink on Museumplein, will be there until February 5.

Seems like that’s all for this week! Did you like our Amsterdam guide? Then stay tuned for more: we promise to create the similar one every week!
