Trying to answer this question, filmmaker and artist Yann Arthus-Bertrand collected hundreds of unbelievable real-life stories from people around the world and merged them into a movie. 2,000 men and women. 60 countries. 3 years of shooting. Come to Pakhuis de Zwijger on Tuesday to watch this extraordinary documentary for free. The reservation is necessary!

Discover the world of Spanish cinema together with Pathé Tuschinski, Het Ketelhuis, Eye Film Institute and the Bimhuis. The festival starts on the 30th of May and goes on until the 4th of June. Check out the festival official website for the full program, the list of events and tickets.
2-5 June / Amstelpark
Taste of Amsterdam takes over Amstelpark for the ninth year in a row. Stop by for delicious food from leading Amsterdam restaurants and chefs, as well as wine tasting, workshops and entertainment. Finally, take a quick look at the Farmers’ Market and get some fresh fruits and veggies for home.
3 June / Madam
A party with a view at Madam Amsterdam! The entry is free and no reservation needed. Just show up at the door after 10 PM and enjoy a breathtaking view over Amsterdam, as well as the best selection of dance music.
3-4 June / IJ-Hallen
IJ Hallen is the biggest and the most extraordinary flea market in Europe that sells all kinds of things! Stock up on second-hand clothes and shoes. ‘Dig up’ a vintage bag or an antique lamp that costs less than a cup of coffee. Find everything you’re looking for and even more!
June 4 / Westergasfabriek
Held on the first Sunday of every month at Amsterdam’s lively Westergasfabriek, the Sunday Market is the place to be on Sunday afternoon. Offering a chance to shop for art, fashion, design and food at the same time, this beloved market brings together all foodies, rummagers and art lovers of the Dutch capital. The entrance is free.
June 4 / Volkshotel
Imagine yourself sitting in an open-air hot tub, with a drink in your hand, listening to live music and staring at beautiful views of Amsterdam. Sounds good, doesn’t it? And what is even more surprising – the event is free. All you need to do is come early enough to get a spot!
