Welcome to our weekly Amsterdam guide! Let’s look at what the Dutch capital has to offer!
10 December 2016 – 5 February 2017
42 ice artists. 550,000 kilograms of ice and snow. 100 sculptures towering up to 6m high. With over 100,000 visitors annually, the Dutch Ice Sculpture Festival is definitely the biggest winter event in the country! And this year it comes to Amsterdam for the very first time.
After the colorful Christmas decorations light up the streets of Amsterdam, the Christmas spirit spreads to every corner of the city. The Light Festival comes back to town. The Fountain on Museumplein turns into a huge ice rink again. And, of course, there are plenty of Christmas markets that you just can’t miss!
IJ Hallen is the biggest and the most extraordinary flea market in Europe that sells all kinds of things! Go treasure hunting and stock up on second-hand clothes and shoes. ‘Dig up’ a vintage bag or an antique lamp that costs less than a cup of coffee. Find everything you’re looking for and more…
Fond of photography? Hurry up to join the Christmas Market photowalk organized by Amsterdam Photo Club. Brighten up your winter with a visit to a Christmas market, take lots of colorful pictures and meet dozens of like-minded people!
