It’s mid-winter and cold, so some 40 top hotels in Amsterdam are opening their doors to local residents to sample their luxurious hospitality and stay at a discount room rate for the weekend.

Many of the hotels are also turning the occasion into cultural and culinary treats, offering special dinners and even parties on the rooftop. You can sip cocktails then rug up to go to the biological night market for organic food and fruits.

Or just stroll along the canals in your wintry city, or enjoy its night life late into the night, knowing that you will not have to travel far to go “home”.
